Lace up. Revolutions is 21 tracks in just under 60 minutes of bass-heavy breaks, recorded live in one take, locked at 134 BPM, and presented the only way that felt right: as an ad for a sneaker that doesn’t exist.
The title spins on a few things close to my heart: my love of sneakers (the Nike Air Revolution is my all-time favorite), another trip around the sun, and the way I revolve between new tracks and the classics I used to play out years ago. The artwork was Henry Mason’s idea: make the flyer look like an old-school magazine shoe ad, which dropped me straight back into the rave-flyer days and the late-’80s ritual of flipping through magazines hunting the next pair of kicks. So that’s the pitch: a futuristic Air Revolution in an orange-creamsicle colorway (my favorite flavor and color), with fur detailing for the moose. Tap the glowing spots on the shoe above to read the “specs.”
Under the hood it’s a counter-clockwise trip around the Camelot Wheel, opening in A-flat minor and working toward F minor as the destination, built around three peaks: Scram and Punks (classics that honor where this sound came from) and The Dancing Shadow (where it’s going). I started with 30+ tracks and, for maybe the first time ever, spent real time deciding what wouldn’t make the cut. No filler, builds the whole way. Perfect “elliptical ravestep,” if you’re into that.
