The follow-up to last year’s Cleared Expectations — and this time the title is the thesis. Lowered Expectations isn’t about doing less; it’s about refusing to chase spectacle, letting groove, tension, and patience do the heavy lifting instead of constant hands-in-the-air moments. The name comes from a lowered truck everybody knew back in high school: nothing flashy on paper, but the stance and the sound made it unforgettable — built to cruise, heavy and intentional at five miles an hour.
Recorded live in one take, it’s a slow-and-low journey built on long blends and mid-tempo pressure — the kind of extended, technical mixing where two records overlap long enough to become a “third track.” The selection spans turn-of-the-millennium breaks classics and a new wave of modern nu skool breaks, anchored by a few peaks — Audiohazard’s filthy “Track One” bassline, the Stanton Warriors remix of “To The Left” — before a final after-dark epilogue glides through halftime and drum-heavy closers. “Could also be called ‘Unapologetic Rollers’” — DJ Cheshire.
